Welcome to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad Teachers' Training College, one of the premier institutions for Teacher Education affiliated with the prestigious Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga. Established in 1995, the College offers high-quality education and professional training to prospective teachers, backed by a well-developed campus, distinguished faculty members and a vibrant curricular programme.
The conviction to establish a teachers' training college in the rural belt of the Mithilanchal region came to me while I was pursuing my Master's at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Whenever I travelled back home to Darbhanga, I had discussions with local government school teachers and witnessed firsthand the acute shortage of qualified teachers in our schools. Parents were increasingly left with no choice but to either withdraw their children from formal education or send them far from home at great personal expense.
The purpose behind establishing this College was to provide professional education for the empowerment of marginalised and minority communities, especially Muslim youth. Located in Darbhanga — a district marked with deep-rooted educational backwardness and social marginalization — the institution serves as a transformative platform for social advancement.
Education does not merely empower an individual to gain employment; it also enables them to recognise their hidden potential, rise above a parochial mindset and confront inequality, ignorance and injustice in society. A teacher does not just impart theoretical knowledge; he is the parent of a child who instills values, morals and helps in character building. Teachers are the fundamental seeds from which a healthy society grows. If we desire robust trees and a rich harvest tomorrow, we must dedicate our efforts to nurturing the roots today.
